WEAVE Foundation 1st runner-up of the 2014 Thailand NGO awards

On its 4th year of celebrating success and rewarding excellence amongst the best non-profit organizations in Thailand, the Resource Alliance in partnership with the Rockefeller Foundation has conferred the 2014 winners of Thai NGO Awards at the Amari Watergate Hotel in Bangkok.

Non-Profit Organizations from across Thailand were carefully selected based on how they demonstrated good practices and cutting edge approaches on governance and accountability, innovations in resource mobilization, and effective programming and financial management. The Thai NGO Awards underline the high quality, credibility, honesty and integrity of the awardees and their important roles in contributing to sustainable development and improving the lives of people in Thailand.

The NGO of the Year across three categories are:
• Large (annual revenue over 10 million baht): SOS Children’s Villages Thailand
• Medium (annual revenue between 2-10 million baht): Goodwill Group Foundation
• Small (annual revenue under 2 million baht): Sansailuang Sub-District Health Volunteer Club

Other award winners included Amway for Thai Society Foundation, Foundation for the Welfare of the Mentally Retarded of Thailand and WEAVE Foundation.

Speaking to the winners, guests and representatives from various Philanthropic organizations, Ms. Natalie Phaholyothin, Associate Director of the Rockefeller Foundation said that “it is the Rockefeller Foundation’s belief that a vibrant, well-supported non-profit sector is essential for enabling communities and society at large to be resilient, and for poor people to access opportunities that improve their lives. We congratulate this year’s winners and acknowledge the enthusiasm, commitment and determination of hundreds of outstanding non-profit organizations in Thailand whose efforts deserve to be celebrated.”

The award ceremony was presided by Dr. Juree Vichit-Vadakan, Chair of the Centre for Philanthropy and Civil Society, National Institute of Development Administration. Other chief guests includes Thailand’s leading non-profit and responsible business experts Ms. Tassanee Lerksantivong, Governor Assistant, Metropolitan Waterworks Authority; Mr. Peredue Evans, Director of The British Council Thailand, and Mr. Sukich Udindu, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility at the Minor Group.
