My name is Raelan and I am a Canadian Master’s of Social Work student from Dalhousie University who is very interested in completing my field practicum with your agency. The inspiring work you are doing with indigenous women is a strong area of interest of mine and it would be an honour to be able to conduct my practicum at your agency. I understand that you have a preexisting agreement with Dalhousie and have taken Social Work practicum students in the past and it is my sincere hope that you would be interested in doing so again in the future. I would be looking to complete 30-40 hours per week of work from September – December 2017 (450 hours total).

Although I grew up in Canada, I have been living in Southeast Asia for the past 6 years so am quite familiar with the area and various cultures. I am currently living in Jakarta, Indonesia, however previously spent approximately 4 years in Malaysia, 1 year in Thailand and 1 year in Cambodia. My time in the region has included most recently corporate innovation work, as well as full-time volunteer work at a Phnom Penh NGO serving impoverished children, volunteer work with Burmese refugees in Kuala Lumpur, and also teaching English to children and adults in Thailand and Malaysia.

I can send over my CV, and I would be happy to share more information about myself if needed. I would be most appreciative of an opportunity for a Skype interview should you be willing to consider taking me on as a practicum student.

I sincerely look forward to hearing from you and learning more about the inspiring work you do at Women’s Education for Advancement and Empowerment.
